Chemical Names and Formulas


Ethylamine
Even though there are only 92 naturally occurring elements. those elements can be combined in millions of different ways. Each of those compounds differs chemically from the others, thus need to have a totally identifiable name.

Rules for naming those compounds differ between the various chemical groupings of the compounds. Ionic compounds, molecular compounds and organic substances are each named with a slightly different system of nomenclature, the devising or choosing of names.

ACTIVITY ASSIGNMENT:
1. Watch each of the following videos, writing a summary of each one using your own words to capture the essential concept of each video.
2. Using your book, your written summary from the videos a9.3nd Google, complete all of Chapter 9, Chemical Names and Formulas, in Sections 9.1, 9.2 and of the Guided Reading and Study Workbook.
