IONIC and METALLIC BONDING: BLOCK #9

Ionic & Metalllic Bonding

Ionic & Metallic Bonding
The atoms, molecules and ions of various substances obviously stick together. This occurs because of various types of bonding that occurs between the individual particles of the substance. All of these chemical bonds that create this mutual attraction involves some type of interaction with the electrons of the various particles.

There are three major types of chemical bonds; ionic, covalent and metallic. This block discusses ionic and metallic, and covalent bonds are covered in the next block.

ACTIVITY ASSIGNMENT:
1. Watch each of the following videos, writing a summary of each one using your own words to capture the essential concept of each video.
2. Using your book, your written summary from the videos and Google, complete all of Chapter 7, Ionic and Metallic Bonding, in chapter 7of the Guided Reading and Study Workbook. Be sure and include the Guided Practice Problems.
